The unasked question
In this whole brouhaha (you should pardon the expression) over a company from the UAE owning U.S. ports, there's one important question that I believe has gone unanswered.
Cui bono?
More specifically, how does the sale of a British company to a firm from Abu Dhabi make Dick Cheney, George W. Bush and/or Halliburton richer? Once we know the answer to this question, we'll know why Republicans are playing the race card so hard in defending this sale.

I wonder if it isn't a set-up so that GOPs running in the fall get to look tough by standing up to the president.
I'm also inclined to think that it isn't a big deal - well, not for security reasons, anyhow. It does seem like one more example of the government falling all over itself to send money and jobs overseas.

Interesting idea, Josh.
Personally, I think they're going to make sure the deal goes through, then, two or three years from now, they'll start screaming in outrage, "OUR MAJOR PORTS ARE OWNED BY A-RABS!!", blame the Democrats, and use it as an excuse to authorize random police searches of peoples' homes at 4 AM. 'Cause, you know, our ports are owned by The Enemy. So we really need some tough security measures.
That's my theory.

(MattK) There will be no need to search your home at 4am. They just need to turn on the cameras and see what you are doing.
